@wxl Don't even think about writing 𝕚𝕟𝕕𝕖𝕖𝕕 like that without sharing how we can do it as well ;-) @Elizafox

@paolo @Elizafox if you think that's exciting, what about ? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internat

given the specification from the Unicode Consortium/IETF you may be hard pressed to find something that works, though:
unicode.org/faq/idn.html

@wxl Hasn't that already caused some issues where someone created cyrillic domains that looked like apple.com and paypal.com but were going in a completely different site?
@Elizafox

@paolo @Elizafox yeah well the thing that makes that work is when they're ALL from related character sets. actually, you may notice my name is mostly non-Latin.

@wxl Actually I noticed now just because you told me. To me they looked like normal latin characters. @Elizafox

an interesting question: if you try to register with non-Latin scripts (e.g. "ѡхӀ"), the reply is according to config/locales/activerecord.CC.yaml (CC=country code) which for en is "only letters, numbers and underscores" but maybe it should be more like only *Latin* letters/numbers.

@paolo @Elizafox

@wxl I have no idea what would happen. I'll try to create users with accents & non-latin characters after dinner.
Hopefully it won't break something ;-) @Elizafox

@Elizafox @paolo ugh i tried to make that so that it was go on the public timelines but that didn't work, did it?

@wxl That's a shame, I've just tested Unicode text on Twatter and it works.

I was hoping to use it as a very important USP that could have attracted more Twatter users to Mastodon ;-) @Elizafox
