The "Software Freedom Law Center" has posted a blog post today where they propose a settlement with the Software Freedom Conservancy.

I lose an increasing amount of respect for Eben Moglen by the day.

My opinion:

The SFLC should DROP this matter entirely and apologize to Conservancy, all projects that work with Conservancy, and the greater Free Software public. That is the only right course of action for an organization that truly cares about Free Software.

Computers are everywhere. They control our access to culture, knowledge, information, education & work it enables us to participate in democratic decision-making. It is crucial that in the 21st century software is controlled by the society #FreeSoftware #HumanRightsDay #Article19

I turned off my Nextcloud some time ago. I plan my work in a paper notebook, and use an old fashioned paper calendar. My address book is just locally on my devices (of course backed up). I don't use email on my phone so that works out surprisingly well.

I use Syncthing for syncing a few files between my phone and laptop, which doesn't require a server. The only thing still running on my server is a instance. I'm afraid when my server dies (it's a pretty old computer) I won't be replacing it.

I guess I'm getting old and going Luddite :-)

There's nothing better than `git annex drop` when needing to free up disk space quickly 🙂

@cwebber I guess you met XDI Markus at the Rebooting Web of Trust conference? :-)

I use Wallabag every day, but I don't think I posted about it yet. (I'm a bookmark hoarder.)

Wallabag makes it convenient to bookmark and tag web content on multiple devices and browsers, can be used to keep track of reading and integrates nicely with RSS readers. The backend can be set up on your own server, but there's also an affordable paid hosting option for those who prefer that.

I've been attending the MyData 2017 conference (and involved in organising the academic part). This session today was pretty interesting: "Building Blocks of the Decentralised World" Tomorrow I will attend this one "Self Sovereign Identity"

We moved the boy into his own room (slept in our bedroom before). Cons: I no longer have my own home office aka man cave. Pros: I can now access the balcony in the evening, and have a beer/coffee/tea there. I'm currently enjoying the latter.

My vacation means cleaning and getting rid of stuff. Our 1yr old needs more space, so my man cave is slowly being converted into a kid's room. Unfortunately I really have a lot of stuff. Partly because of having lived a typical consumerist life style, and also because I inherited a lot of stuff from my dad (who basically never threw anything away). Yesterday we took 5 bags of clothes to recycling, today 100 books, a VCR player and a DVR to recycling, and there is still lots to do! (We have a great place that actually recycles stuff that is usable!)

Wow! EU soon to pass The General Data Protection Regulation which will unify data use across the EU *and include creative-commons-style logos instead of just huge, verbiose Ts&Cs!* #gdpr

Thanks for highlighting @samtoland

I only now realised you can click on the post so see a bit larger in another column + replies. Neat 😃

Mastodon's very narrow columns makes it a bit hard to read long posts. At least on my small laptop screen...

Proposing a new #LibreMonday recurring #hashtag. Who's in?

The idea: #showcase free/libre and open source source (#FLOSS) projects that you like, giving a screenshot and basic information + links.

This should help many of us #Mastodon users discover hidden gems of the #FreeSoftware ecosystem.

Please boost 🍍 and give it a go!

Any people I should follow on Mastodon? :-) mastodon
